If there’s one characteristic that defines a good internet marketer, it’s adaptability. The online marketing world moves so fast — faster than any other industry around — and those that make their fortunes online always move faster than anyone else. From the arbitrage heydays to the modern era of CPA affiliate products, top internet marketers are always looking a step ahead, and are always looking for the ultimate advantage.

There’s one aspect of internet marketing that attracts its fair share of controversy and discussion. It’s link cloaking, of course, and the discussion is around whether it’s really necessary for affiliates. For those who don’t know, link cloaking is simply a visual disguising of affiliate links, leading the URL to appear as an in-site page, when in reality it’s an outbound link. Why is this so important to affiliates? Well, let’s have a look.

To begin with, link cloaking is important for affiliates that make most of their sales through blogs and personal recommendations. A large portion of affiliates, particularly those who operate large scale online companies, keep a personal or professional blog. While it’s rarely their major income source, most affiliates occasionally use promotional links on their blog. The problem is that many readers are instantly skeptical of what they view as paid recommendations. Whenever they mouse over a link’s anchor text and see an affiliate code, they back away and don’t make a sale.

This is where link cloaking can help with a direct sale. Rather than having readers shy away from a great product, link cloaking can help marketers direct reader to the product. When they see an inbound link with a domain that they trust, they’re sold. All that’s standing between them and the sale is the quality of the product itself.

Secondly, link cloaking is essential for certain marketing channels. While Google Adwords has often been a favorite for affiliates, they’ve recently changed their policies and appear to be taking a harder stance on affiliate products, particularly those with unclear conditions and slightly misleading terms. While this isn’t a problem for most affiliates — the majority of whom promote products that fall well inside the terms and conditions — some affiliates are having trouble getting their PPC ads to show, after being struck with a poor quality score.

This is where link cloaking can again save the day. Rather than having a direct link leading to an affiliate page, direct-to-offer PPC advertisers can cloak their links and have them redirect through their own server. This isn’t just perfect for avoiding the infamous Google slap, but also for adding tracking data and inter-offer landing pages.

There’s a third, top secret, advantage to using link cloaking. While most affiliate websites offer long-term cookies, few will cover multiple products. With the right strategy, you could incorporate multiple affiliate links into a single cloaking redirect, leaving you with the potential to earn twice as many commissions per clicker. Alongside the other great benefits of link cloaking, this really sweetens the deal, and makes link cloaking an absolutely essential practice for serious affiliates, full-time internet marketers, and dedicated online entrepreneurs.

Now that many people’s finances are getting even tighter due to the recession, the idea of making money online is getting even more attractive, and one of the first things many people hear about is something called “affiliate marketing.” While there is a enough information out there to overwhelm most people at first, the basic concept is fairly simple.

Market research is the first step in the process.

First, you must research markets you are interested in. This is your most important starting point, and you can do this by finding out what your potential customers are looking for. This is the essence of “keyword research” – finding the actual words or phrases people type into search engines to find answers to their problems, and you can be sure that if you do not do your research, you will regret it later.

By finding and using keywords that consumers are actively entering into the search engines, you will be able to help your websites and landing pages rank higher, generating a nonstop flood of organic, targeted traffic.

Keyword research doesn’t have to be a difficult task, however. Start with the free Google Keyword Tool, which can be found by searching for “Google keyword tool external,” and enter in a keyword or phrase that identifies the product or niche that you are interested in promoting as an affiliate.

Click on “get keyword ideas” to generate a list of keywords and gauge the competitiveness of the the market by taking a look at the number of times people are searching for your main keywords per month.

What you want to do is find a market with existing demand that also has existing competition and products readily available, but not so competitive that ranking highly is next to impossible.

What’s important here is that you remember there must be an audience for whatever you choose to market. Since you are an affiliate, your costs for entering a market are not very high, but  it’s still a good idea to take the time to do niche research in order to avoid wasting your time.

Affiliate Marketing is a great program. It provides those who want it with the means to set up their own home business. As an affiliate, you do work for another but you are rewarded for your work. The money you make is based on your individual performance not an hourly or yearly salary. Affiliate marketing provides many incentives to work harder and more efficiently. The harder and better you work, the more monetary success you are likely to see. Affiliate marketing also reduces the amount of risk. The main company handles the advertising and creation of the product allowing you to move the product in what ever way you think best.

One does need to be cautious in the field of affiliate marketing. For every great, legitimate opportunity out there, there are more ready to con. The internet has made it quite easy for these con artists to operate and even thrive.

Before you Plunge head first into the field on affiliate marketing you should do some checking. A general rule of thumb is to never do business with anyone that doesn’t have a fixed address and telephone number. If all they have to offer is an email address then look for another company. Doing business only by email is very dangerous. It makes it far too easy for these con artists to slip away and never be heard from again. Unfortunately, when they slip away it is likely with your money or earnings.

If you find a company that you are interested in then check the start up costs. These should be minimal if any at all. Ask is there is a way to pay back the start up costs through your sales commission. Most are willing to do this. However, if there seems to be a lot of initial money that needs to be paid by you then find something else. The chances are good that they will take your money and run, leaving you with worthless product.

Finally, ask what support you will receive if you agree to become part of their affiliate marketing plan. There should be someone there to guide you through the process and answer any questions that you have. They should also offer you advice on how best to market their product. It is up to you in the ends but they should offer you some stat up ideas. If their legitimate company they should want to help you all they can. They more you are able to sell the greater benefit for them as well.

You should keep in mind that affiliate marketing takes a of work. It is like any other business except that the risk to you is much lower. Ignore companies that promise huge salaries with little effort, it just won’t happen. Many people make great successes with affiliate marketing programs. However, they do work incredibly hard. However the rewards come when the hard work pays off. You’re the one that will reap the rewards, not your boss.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to start working for yourself. With lots of hard work and creativity you could be well on your way to great earnings doing something that you enjoy. It won’t be easy and in the beginning you’ll have to work harder then you ever did in a full-time job. But if you’re driven it will all be worth it in the end.

In internet business, one of the most powerful ways to boost up your gross income is to build an affiliate program. It can be the single smartest thing you do to grow your business and build residual income. Due to the nature of the affiliate marketing system, it affords you to the power of leverage and numbers to increase your results by the efforts of your affiliates. When developing an affiliate program for your internet business, the first hurdle is initially getting a high number of revenue-generating affiliates to join and structuring the system for long term and low effort results. To build this type of system in your internet business, follow the 3 primary steps…Research, Recruiting and Training.

RESEARCH

The first step towards building your affiliate program is to recruit affiliates to your internet business. You don’t want just any affiliates though; you want affiliates to join that are going to being highly success. If they make a lot of sales, you make and lot of money. So, how do you find these top level affiliates?

Use software called SEO Elite. SEO Elite is a great tool to locate websites within a niche. Once found, it reveals lots of different information which allows you to assume the success of the site. Normally, this is used to find Link Partners. A Link Partner is someone that owns a link or site related to your niche and internet business. For example, you could type in “running shoes” in the software and it pulls up many sites that are about running shoes. Then, it ranks them based upon their traffic, page rank .

However, there is also a secret use for SEO Elite that they never designed but is used every single day. Use it to research sites and internet businesses that you would like to recruit to your affiliate program. When you run the report in SEO Elite, normally it will generate 500-700 links/sites related to the search field. The software exposes traffic statistics about each site. The higher the traffic means that the site and owner probably are successful and educated about internet business. These are the type of potential high level affiliate you will want to attract into your affiliate program. Export the data and start contacting the owners of the sites and inviting them to join your affiliate program.

RECRUITING:

The software has a built-in function that allows you to easily send a pre-written email (you should customize it) to the sites that you are interested in contacting. In the email, include information such as the benefits of your product, how the products are appropriate for their list, the method of and how often you pay affiliate commission, and the affiliate commission percentage you offer. Make sure to give them your affiliate sign-up link so it is really easy for them to join.

Since the software already ranks each site based upon traffic, you can prioritize who to contact as higher traffic sites are generally more successful and will tend to become an income-generating affiliate for you! This is a really quick and easy way to find some of your best affiliates.

TRAINING:

The next and final step of building a successful affiliate program for your internet business is offering training and affiliate resources that are easy for your affiliates to use. The training you include will teach affiliates exactly how to increase sales and become super affiliates. It is recommended that you create an affiliate training center. You can deliver training in many different ways such as email, teleconferences, Q&A, affiliate forums, audio postcards, affiliate training blogs and LIVE events. Choose a method that is best for you and make sure that you keep your affiliates learning and updated on new affiliate marketing techniques.

The resources will be actual tools that they use to make those sales. Some examples of resources that you should offer are solo emails, banners, keyword lists, example pay-per-click ads, text link ads, product reviews and blog reviews. It is recommended that you build an affiliate site where all the affiliate tools and resources are located.

The better you build your affiliate program, the more successful your internet business will be. Quantity is not always preferable to quality when it comes to affiliate management. It is important to research and recruit successful affiliate and to provide them with an affiliate training center so that they can continue to improve and make more sales. Provide all the sales material to them and make it really easy for them to access and use it. Affiliate programs can be an incredibly powerful tool to boost revenue in your internet business if they are constructed and managed correctly.
