Free targeted traffic.  If that’s not your idea of a goldmine, you shouldn’t be in the Internet marketing business.  And getting free targeted traffic has recently become even more powerful thanks to the help of Web 2.0. Before we get to that, let’s first take a quick look at what Web 2.0 is.

Wikipedia defines Web 2.0 as web sites that “let people collaborate and share information online in a new way.”

Essentially, Web 2.0 sites are online communities where people congregate and are encouraged to share information with one another. The information that is shared and passed around by users of these social networks includes pretty much any topic you can think of.

And because there are so many specific niche topics (and markets) that people take interest in, Web 2.0 social networking sites are a marketer’s gold mine.

In other words, these sites present an unprecedented opportunity to have others willingly market your products and services for free.

As a marketer, your objective should be to find fast moving Web 2.0 community-based web sites that allow you to insert your URL. That way, when people review your information and share it with others, your link will get seen (and hopefully clicked on), thus driving highly targeted traffic back to your web site.

A great way to increase your page rank and positioning on many social networks is to create multiple user accounts on related topics and then link them all together. Also, be sure to ask your visitor to rank your page. This too will boost you up in the rankings.

Squidoo Policy Update

Well, just in case you haven’t heard of it yet. I’ll post it here for y’all.

Here’s the summary email lensmasters should have gotten a few days ago. You can read everything at http://www.squidoo.com/squidoo-policy-update.

1. No Spam. This one’s not new, but it’s worth saying again.

It’s simple: given our pedigree, our point of view and our dyed-in-the-wool, we-will-never-change-our-mind conviction on this issue, spam is not okay at Squidoo. For a few years now we have had a very strict and enforced stance against spam. That’s staying the same, and if anything, getting even more rigorous. If you actively spam people with your Squidoo lenses (by email, in blog comments, by stalking and harassing people on Twitter, by tricking people with the content in your lenses, and more) we’ll lock your entire account.

2. No more X-rated or Porn lenses

If you came to Squidoo to create X-rated or pornographic content, the time has come to say farewell. We’re not discontinuing these lenses because we’ve suddenly grown shy, or because we no longer believe in the freedom to publish what you want. We do. Practically though, supporting X-rated pages no longer makes sense, and it invites more spam and empty traffic and wasted overhead than anything. Find out more about why we’re making this very hard decision, and what it means for your X-rated lenses. (Don’t panic! You can export your content and take it with you).

3. No Junk Topics from our “SquidDon’t” List

Lenses on free movie downloads. Toenail fungus cures. LoseBellyFatNow promotions. Reverse Phone Lookup 4U. You know junk when you see it. And lots more examples.

Unforunately, topics like these are overwhelmingly conditioned and proven to attract spammers. If a topic has displayed enough trickery and spam and bad activity, we choose not to support it. If we find a lens on a SquidDon’t topic or something very similar to it, we’ll lock it. For good. Our best recommendation: Don’t bother with topics like these. There’s plenty of incredible stuff to write about and recommend online without having to go near the edges of what we’re got going here.

4. A new limit on overly promotional lenses

Making a lens to promote or recommend something is a terrific endeavor. It’s a big part of why a lot of our people are here. But: Less is more! Sales lenses far too often turn into junk lenses, as described by the relentless number of outbound links to the same exact domain. Being overly promotional rarely works. “Buy here buy here buy here!” never does.

So to help you focus your lenses, and sell even better–and to help surfers find our pages more useful overall–we’re introducing a limit to the number of outbound links to the same domain that you can have on a lens. If you have more than 9 links to the SAME domain on a single lens, your lens will get locked for review. Of course we’ll have domains that are whitelisted out of this (meaning, you can have as many outbound links to them as you like), as well as sites that are blacklisted (meaning, even a single link to that domain will get your lens locked).

Please read all the important details on how this works.

What now? First, take a deep breath.

We won’t be flipping the switch on these new policies until July 20, 2009 or later. So you’ve got more than a month to review your lenses to make sure they’re playing by the rules.

In the meantime, here are 4 things you can do to get ready for these changes.

Twitter is growing fast right now, and as internet marketers, we need to capitalise on this trend to ride the wave and increase our sales.

2 guys i know in the internet marketing circle Jani G & Ian Fernando have just released a course on exactly how to do this.

This course is called Twitter Traffic Exposed.

While going over the sales page of this particular e-book, I was impressed and decided to go ahead and make the purchase myself. Fortunately, it was worth the money spent!

The e-book in question is Twitter Traffic Exposed by Jani G and Ian Fernando. I dug right into the training and, before I knew it, had completed all 77 pages.

I have read several of the latest e-books on Twitter… I’ve even created a Twitter product myself. Twitter Traffic Exposed is the real deal. I didn’t find a bunch of tricks and gimmicks in this book. Instead, I found solid information on both the use of Twitter and great insight on social marketing in general.

One of the things that really stood out is the importance of have a unique profile (background image) that sets your Twitter page a step above the rest. It falls right in line with something Donald Trump said on “The Apprentice” this past Sunday. “Those who are successful in life and business have to the better than the rest, all of the time!” My dad used to tell me the same thing when I was growing up… “son, if a job isn’t worth doing right, and doing your best, it’s not worth doing at all.”

This is only a fragment of the great information contained within the pages of Twitter Traffic Exposed. If you are using Twitter for marketing and business, or are thinking about doing so, this is a great resource.

Video – The Most Fun Medium of Marketing!

Easy Video Producer Take a look around the internet today and one thing you’ll see more of is videos. More and more, even the ‘gurus’ are making use of this medium to advertise their products and services.

Do you doubt me on that?

If so, think about the last big launch?

Who was the guru and what did he say?

No, I don’t mean what did he write, I mean what did he ‘say’.

Because, invariably, every single launch that’s happened over the past few months not only had an element of video in its sales letter……in most cases, the video IS the sales letter. Yes, you may see a page with writing on it, but count the number of words.

Chances are, you could actually count the words in a matter of seconds. Before video I couldn’t imagine anyone would want to even attempt to count the words –the sales letters for big launches are way too long. And let’s face it, when it comes to high ticket, expensive products, the sales pitch has got be substantial as most people want to know as much as possible about a product before they splash out that amount of money.

The good thing with video is now you can write a sales pitch as long as you want, and people will most likely site there and watch it… especially if the delivery is entertaining. Now tell me, when was the last time you found a written sales letter entertaining?

I mean, yes, sometimes they are but, for the most part, you can’t afford to use humour in the written sales letter.

Video opens up avenues which were never available before to any business. Or, for that matter, any individual just wanting to get his or her diary online in video form. Sure, you could upload a video to YouTube or one of the multitudes of video sites, but not everyone wants to stick their videos on a public forum that size. There may be certain types of videos available only to your clients – would you want everyone to see them.

Heck, I know of one martial artist who sticks videos on YouTube which are only supposed to be for his paid members. You can’t get to them through his site, but all you have to do is go to YouTube and type in his name and, hey presto, there they are.

Now, if you’re one of those people who want to keep their videos on individual sites, what happens if you’re not a techie. Well, if you’re anything like me, you’ll go through a whole load of trial and error. Sure, you’ll probably get the video onto your site, as I did, but it could take a whole day… as it did me.
